The Twilight Zone & The Outer Limits
| These videos can present some pretty strong parallels to the concept of leaving behind organized religion. It also presents the kind of mindset that can sometimes overtake good men who presume to lead others (this is especially portrayed in the Twilight Zone episode "On Thursday We Leave For Home"). The Outer Limits episode presents a more sinister view of leadership (emphasizing the potential for ecclesiastical office to work as a force of manipulation to achive its own agenda), but this episode also effectively shows how hard it can be for people to break away from deception sometimes and how that, even when an individual starts to see the truth, the rest often see them as rebellious or deceived when it is they, in fact, who are the deceived. I just happened to flip on the TV the other night and these shows played back-to-back and I had my home made Tivo runnin' so BAM I got them both! Check 'em out! See if you can relate to or spot any of the parallels. They aren't perfect parallels but there are some great lines and well-portrayed ideologies at segments of each video. |
